Residents taking part in a poll in Great Yarmouth Market Place voted 61pc in agreement with the statement that the town is a better place to live than five years ago.

Residents taking part in a poll in Great Yarmouth Market Place voted 61pc in agreement with the statement that the town is a better place to live than five years ago.

“Although not an official ballot its good to know that people are recognising the regeneration that has been delivered in the past few years,” said Barry Stone, deputy leader of the borough council.

“While voting, people commented on how improvements to St George's Park, the seafront and South Quay had made a real difference.”

Last Wednesday residents also had a chance to express their views by writing on a graffiti wall in the Market Place event. There were 59 comments on issues that really matter to residents, including service provision, the town and surroundings, toilets, culture and police provision.
