MORE than 10 jobs are set to be created with the opening of the new Blue Inc store at Great Yarmouth's Market Gates Shopping Centre.

It was revealed last week that the London based clothing chain would be moving into the former D2 Jeans unit at the shopping centre.

Interviewing is due to start shortly for positions at the store, which is due to start trading before the end of the month.

Blue Inc stocks a premier range of urban style men's and women's clothing, shoes and accessories and has 90 stores in the UK and abroad, including one in Norwich's Castle Mall.

The company's managing director Steven Cohen told the Mercury the opportunity open an outlet in Yarmouth presented an exciting business opportunity.

He said: “The location is excellent and the town is a thriving community, where we can bring something very new and different to the local retail landscape.”

“The store will stock men's and women's fashions and we anticipate employing more than 10 full and part time staff.”

A number of retailers expressed an interest in moving into the unit, which is in a prime position at the Market Place entrance to the shopping centre.

Bosses at D2 are believed to be looking for an alternative location in Yarmouth after surrendering the lease at Market Gates.

Market Gates centre manager Nick Spencer said: “This is a very welcome announcement and will keep the use of the unit very similar. There was a lot of interest in the unit from retailers, which is very encouraging. Our occupation levels are high and we are in discussions with another retailer about moving into the new extension.”

Already in the extension are Debenhams and Orange.
