GREAT Yarmouth's annual civic ball is breaking with tradition and introducing a big band sound to entertain guests.

Tickets are now on sale for the ball to be held on May 1 at the Ocean Room, in Gorleston, to celebrate Mayor Terry Easter's year in office.

The black tie dinner is open to all and helps bring the mayor's time in office to a close as his successor will take up the robes on May 11.

The Jonathan Wyatt Big Band will provide the entertainment with sounds from an era which celebrated Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington and Count Basie.

Proceeds from the evening will go to the mayor's charities Centre 81 which provides day care in Great Yarmouth, and the Alzheimer's Society.

Tickets are available from mayors secretary Laura Goodman on 01493 846125 and further details can be found at www.great-yarmouth.gov.uk.
