THERE will be plenty on offer in Great Yarmouth as part of the nationwide Musuems at Night weekend, which will be celebrating UK culture, history and heritage.

Starting on Friday, May 14 and running until Sunday, the weekend will see more than 200 unique nocturnal events springing up across the nation.

Getting involved with the action locally will be a range of venues open from 6pm till 10pm, including the Elizabethan House Museum, which will be holding a free costume evening on May 15.

The costume evening is designed to be family-friendly and admission will be free.

Based inside a 16th-century quayside building, over the weekend the museum will give visitors the chance to meet costumed characters, or, if they fancy something a bit more hands on, don outfits themselves.

After that, those who fancy some clowning around can pop in to The time and Tide museum, where they can enjoy themed events including circus acts in the courtyard and model circus making.

Finally, The Tolhouse will be offering the opportunity to get involved with medieval singing or, for braver souls, a 'meet the jailer' experience.

Looking beyond Yarmouth's horizons, highlights of events in East of England include a magic lantern show in Cromer or a nocturnal adventure in the centre for visual arts in Norwich.

For full details of all venues, events and activities visit www.culture24.org.uk/museumsatnight, where listings information will be continually updated right up until the weekend itself.
