TAXI drivers and late night revellers could hold vital information to a serious sexual assault which happened in Great Yarmouth in the early hours of Saturday.

Investigations are continuing into the incident which happened in an alleyway of Albion Road between 4.30am and 5am.

The young female victim was walking down Albion Road when she was approached by a man and got into a conversation with him. He then pushed her into an alleyway and sexually assaulted her.

Police are keen to speak to any customers who were in the Long Bar, on Marine Parade, Yarmouth, late Friday night or in the early hours of Saturday. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who left the bar after 2am on Saturday.

Detectives are also appealing to speak to any taxi drivers who were in the area between 4am and 5am.

Investigating officer Det Chief Insp Jes Fry said: “We are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the Long Bar to come forward as they may hold vital information.

“We are still keen to speak with a man who was seen in the area at the time, he is described as white, wearing a white t-shirt and black trousers.

“I would like to stress that offences such as this are extremely rare and we are working with colleagues to help reassure the local community. I would ask anyone living or working in the area who saw anyone acting suspiciously or heard anything to contact police as soon as possible.”
