TWO Great Yarmouth College cookery students cooked up a treat for soldiers who have served in Afghanistan.

Alice Stephenson and John Hubbard, and tutor David Patterson, showed off their culinary talents after they helped set up an army tent before they used soldiers' rations to create a meal for members of the 16 Air Assault Brigade at Colchester. The budding chefs used the ration packs and 5 worth of food to make a beef, ham and mushroom bourgignon pie, stuffed chicken with vegetables and noodles and upside down pineapple cake with a rich truffle.

As well as battling rival teams from other colleges and military units last Wednesday the Yarmouth chefs were also given an insight into the importance of keeping soldiers' supplied with hot food full in battle zones and took part in an orienteering exercise.
