Two of the main taxi firms in Great Yarmouth are still operating but warning of waits of up to two hours.

Albies taxis say they have around 30 cars on the road, compared to a normal fleet of some 150.

Director Simon Kitchen said the combination of fewer drivers, double the amount of calls, and shocking driving conditions meant they were struggling to keep up.

A proportion of the calls were from people trying to keep medical appointments.

Swift taxis said they were operating and busy.

Meanwhile the road between Hemsby and Ormesby is reportedly blocked.

One driver said she was turned back by a man with a shovel because of drifting snow.

Meanwhile Palmers Department Store in the town centre is shutting at 1pm a sign in its window states.
