A TEENAGER was the victim of an unprovoked attack on Regent Road in Great Yarmouth on Friday night after a visit to the cinema.

Just before 11pm, Jay Long was sitting on a bench with girlfriend Sophie Falco, 17, when a blond man in his late 20's wearing baggy jeans and a light coloured polo shirt punched him in the face. The assault left the Oriel High School student needing stitches to his lip and bruising around his eye.

His mother, Sharon Bracken, said: “He called me from his girlfriend's at 1am asking me to pick him up and saying he needed to go to the hospital. I've heard of that sort of thing happening but you never expect it to happen to your son. It's an absolute disgrace.”

Anyone with information should call Yarmouth Police on 0845 4564567 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111.
