A BROTHER and sister stood in the dock together on Friday as they were charged with going on the rampage in Yarmouth's town centre and causing up to £15,000 of damage.

Paul and Kathryn Redgrave are accused of smashing the windows of shops and stores in the Market Place, including the Co-Op, Argos, Spec Savers, a butchers and a card shop.

The pair are alleged to have thrown stones and bricks at the shops just after midnight on Thursday and it is claimed they vandalised two telephone boxes as well.

Yarmouth Magistrates' Court heard the final repair bill is expected to reach £15,000.

Elizabeth Houghton, prosecuting, said: “There was a rampage through the town centre of Yarmouth causing large scale damage, indiscriminate damage.”

The pair were both charged with two counts of criminal damage and did not enter any pleas against the allegations.

Because of the large degree of the damage magistrates declined jurisdiction over the case and remanded Paul Redgrave 19, of Southtown Road, Yarmouth and his 22-year-old sister, of Havelock Road, Yarmouth, into custody.

The pair will now reappear before magistrates on December 19 when they will be committed to Norwich Crown Court, where their case will now be heard.

Kathryn Redgrave was also charged with causing an affray at her home on the evening of October 23 when she is alleged to have threatened police with knives. Her affray charge will also be heard at the crown court.
