TWO young dancers met a star of TV's Strictly Come Dancing after waltzing their way into the medals at a national competition.

Thirteen-year-old Alice Shaw and Jordan Archer, 14, were presented with 16 trophies they had won between them by Len Goodman, one of the judges on the ratings-grabbing show.

In front of an audience of hundreds at the dance festival at Pontins Camber Sands, the pair swept to four first places in the under 16s category. After dazzling the judges with a mix of Latin and ballroom, Alice, who lives in Winterton and Jordan, from near Wroxham, left elated with the results.

Alice, who has been dancing since she was seven and has partnered Jordan for nine months, said she had not expected to do so well.

She said: “It was cool to be presented with the medals - he is a bit of an idol and I did better than I thought I would. I couldn't believe it when they announced the winners, and I had to check with my mum that it was us they were talking about.”

The competition follows success at a national competition in the Tower Ballroom at Blackpool in November, where Alice and Jordan took first place in the waltz category.
