AS part of Homefield School's Year 2's RE, youngsters have been learning about charities and looking at ways in which people help those in need. They also researched Haiti and the recent tragedy and year 2 pupils decided to think of a way to raise money to help those affected by the earthquake - and came up with making cakes to sell to adults and staff after school.

The children grouped together in teams and called themselves the Haiti Helpers, producing posters to advertise the sale and baked some of their own cakes and cookies. They also had lots and lots of donations of a variety of cakes and biscuits form parents, teachers, friends and helpers.

The cake sale was an overwhelming success and just over 190 was raised for the people of Haiti.

In addition to Year Two's fantastic fundraising, members of the school council raised a fabulous 277.76 - holding a non-uniform day, which included wearing a crazy hat. Another group of talented dancers from Year 3 put together a dance routine and went round performing it to each class and collected spare change towards the Haiti fund.

In total, the children raised a massive 532.33!
