100 up for hockey club

THIS year marks the 100th Anniversary of Gorleston Hockey Club and friends and associates past and present joining in the club's celebrations this weekend.

THIS year marks the 100th Anniversary of Gorleston Hockey Club and friends and associates past and present joining in the club's celebrations this weekend.

A revised programme to that published in last week's Mercury has been arranged at Cliff Park Community Pitch on Saturday.

Teams representing Gorleston over-30s, Gorleston under-30s and Lowestoft Railway will take part in a small league competing for the John Dawson Centennial Cup from 11am to 3.45 pm and at 12.40 there will be a break for a special match with a Gorleston Veterans X1 going head to head with a Gorleston Legends X1.

A centenary dinner dance takes place Saturday night in the Admiralty and Nelson Suites at Great Yarmouth Racecourse with music from the Broadland Entertainments Roadshow.

On Sunday, 12.30pm, Gorleston 1 play a Norwich City Select X1 (formerly Norwich Grasshoppers) to celebrate 100 years of hockey between the two clubs.
