CUPRUNENDS: There was to be no fairytale end to the wonderful cup run of Caister CC in the Mid Norfolk Challange Cup final at Sprowston cricket ground, where they lost by 117 runs to Anglian CC.
Batting first, the Premier Division outfit scored 247 for 3 in their alotted 40 overs thanks to contributions from Carl Gilbert (43), Simon Durrant (49), Mark Grubb (46), Paul Durrant (46 not) and captain Oli Ford (50 not).
In reply, some tight bowling from openers Graham Bird and Matthew Eves put Caister behind the run rate and it was left to Oli Ford (3-26) and man of the match Paul Durrant (3-8) to clinch a well-earned victory.
In front of a large crowd the cup was presented to the Anglian captain by Mid Norfolk Cricket League chairman Colin King.
