The season may be over, but work continues at The Wellesley as Great Yarmouth Town prepare for a new season, under new management.

The Bloaters have already organised a number of pre-season friendlies ahead of their opening Thurlow Nunn First Division game on August 8.

And new management duo Martyn Sinclair and Adam Mason are on the hunt for new players to help improve what is already a healthy looking squad which was just pipped to promotion last season under Ricci Butler, who has since taken over the reins at Premier Division side Gorleston.

Town are back in for pre-season training on Tuesday, June 16 at 7pm on The Beaconsfield, which gives them a couple of weeks or so to build on fitness and team spirit before the pre-season programme kicks in.

More dates are to be added, but the first test comes on Saturday, July 11 when the players head to Beccles Caxton to take part in a four-team tournament which also includes Halesworth Town and Waveney FC.

Three days later, the Bloaters make the short trip down the Acle Straight for what will surely be a tough encounter with reigning Sterry Cup holders Acle United.

Damian Hilton’s Thurlow Nunn Premier League champions Norwich United will be the first visitors to The Wellesley on Saturday, July 18 and then it’s back on the road again on Tuesday, July 21 when Anglian Combination side Mulbarton Rovers await.

Town will be hoping it’s a case of revenge on Saturday, July 25 when they entertain Essex Senior League side Hullbridge Sports – the team which ended the Bloaters’ excellent run in last season’s FA Vase when they won 1-0 in a game that was played in near monsoon conditions.

The Saturday before the season starts – August 1 – sees Norfolk Senior Cup holders Wroxham visit The Wellesley.

Meanwhile, there is official confirmation from the Almary Green Anglian Combination that Great Yarmouth Town Reserves have been voted into their league.

Cromer Town Reserves, Gorleston Reserves, Spixworth Reserves and Plumstead have also all been elected into the league – the league constitution and divisions will be decided at a later date.

Great Yarmouth Town FC would like to thank the Anglian Combination Committee and all member clubs for their vote of approval.

The club also want to thank the Great Yarmouth District Football League for their co-operation and hospitality shown towards the Bloaters last season when we competed as Great Yarmouth Town Academy.

The football club’s AGM will be on Monday, June 8.
