Pub on the Shrubs Yarmouth and District Saturday League

Congratulations goes to firstly Haven Bridge as they became the first side in 22 years to lift the Norfolk Primary Cup with a fantastic 2-1 win against West Winch Reserves.

Also congratulations goes to Catfield after they won the Pub on the Shrubs Division 1 Championship by defeating nearest rivals Belton 4-1 on the Magdalen. This was following up after a 6-0 win at a depleted Caister CC. with the HA Holmes League Cup final being held last night at Halvergate due to the original postponement Catfield will be hoping to end the season with a double. They will be presented with the championship trophy before the game tomorrow with GY United at Ormesby. Again many congratulations to all at Catfield after there record setting 7th straight title. The race the division two trophy took a massive swing in Haven Bridges favour. Caister Roma had had done all they could to drew level with the favourites after a 10-1 win at South Yarmouth. However they travelled to Burgh Castle Saturday looking to take at least a point that would put them top at least until last Wednesday but MK United who sprung a shock last week sprung another this week as they triumphed 2-1. The result means Haven Bridge last Wednesday against Prostar Windows in effect wraps the trophy up despite the teams meeting tomorrow as Haven Bridge have a far superior goal difference.

Last Wednesday also saw action from the leagues third final of the season the Percy Nockolds Trophy at Halvergate. The league has been blessed with cracking finals this season and despite a lack of goals compared to the other two this final was just as entertaining. Bohemians took an early lead when the ball was fizzed in and the striker finished off at the back post. Albion though hit back and two strikes from Man of the Match Jason Rowe was enough to lift the cup. Well done to both sides on a very spirited final and many thanks again to Halvergate for excellent hospitality throughout and for making both clubs and the league and supporters very welcome as usual. David Hannant must also be congratulated on what is arguably the best playing surface in the district. Finally the two invitation semi finals were played Saturday and very contrasting results we had. MK United first division experience shone through as they defeated Filby & Runham 7-1 while Prostar Windows and South Yarmouth were locked 3-3 into penalties which Prostar Windows emerged victorious. The final will be played this Saturday at 2.30pm on the magdalen. As mentioned before the competition began to club secretaries. only the cup will be presented and both teams are to official costs 50/50. well done to both there.
