KICKBOXING: Great Yarmouth’s world lightweight champion kickboxer Bin Tyler and Portuguese champion Ruben Almeida produced what was hailed the best-ever kickboxing bout to take place in the town. they had the Ocean Room crowd off their seats.

Tyler had Almeida in trouble in the first round, nearly stopping him with his devastating low kicks and some crunching right hands. The pattern continued with Tyler dominating the second round.

In round three the tide turned with Almeida landing great kicks and scoring a knock-down. Tyler, like the warrior he is, won the fourth and fifth rounds, nearly stopping the Portuguese with a big right cross followed by three consecutive low kicks.

When the bell rang there was only one winner, four rounds to one, an amazing battle which will be long remembered by the 600 fans.

Tyler will be defending his world lightweight title at the Ocean Room against European champion Wesley Courville on August 14.

Seven other Yarmouth fighters were victorious. The 3 Lions’ Ben Mitchell, 14, won his full-contact bout with Rotherham’s Keenan Dixon with a powerful display.

Also for the 3 Lions team, Remy Sayer, nine, and Jade Marie Campbell, 13, won their bouts. Senior Stu Meredith got revenge with points win over previous conqueror Ettiene Delorme.

Aaron Monson, 21, boxed beautifully in his white collar bout with Norwich’s Adam Masterson. It was a great win for the hardest worker in the gym.

Sebastian Dryglewski put on a great performance in his points win over tough fighter “Ferg” and Yarmouth’s “Marius” from Lowes Gym beat Norwich fighter Kelvin Lee.

Jade Munro had a bad injury but didn’t want to pull out and let her opponent or sponsors down. She failed in her bid to win her fifth British Schoolgirl title when she was out-pointed by Rotherham’s Jade Clayton, who Munro had beaten by TKO in two rounds in October.

It was Jade’s first loss in over two years. She is sponsored by Andrew Maveroudos at Caesars Bars, and when fully fit will come back stronger.

Kelsea Carroll, Tia Sayer, Nicky McHugh and Carlos Regini Moran all had excellent skills/demo bouts.

The 3 Lions Gym thanked all the sponsors of the event. The 3 Lions Kickboxing Team and Team Nogueira Muay Thai both train at the K9 Gym on Estcourt Road Yarmouth.
