Aston Shaw Great Yarmouth Sunday Football League

The first division title race is looking increasingly likely to come down to the second clash between Camden Tavern and Windmill.

The weekend saw Camden run out 7-0 winners against Gorleston Albion whilst Windmill will be given the points following Hemsby’s failure to raise a team.

Star and Garter moved out of the drop zone above Hemsby following their 2-1 win at Memphis Belton.

The leaders of the second division, Martham, extended their lead to six points following their 2-1 hard-fought win against Bohemians whilst the team in second Camden Tavern failed to raise a side, handing Yarmouth White Sox the points. White Sox join Camden in joint second on 41 points.

An enthralling game was played out between Gorleston Albion Reserves and Carpathians with the Albion side winning 7-6.

Lichfield Arms geared up for their plate semi-final clash with a 6-2 win against Leisureland whilst Sun FC and Gorleston Rangers drew 1-1.

On Thursday evening, Martham Sunday won the first silverware of the season by putting in an accomplished performance to defeat Camden Tavern Reserves 5-0 in the Division Two League Cup final.

In front of a large crowd at Emerald Park, Martham scored the only goal of the first half. And the young guns proved too strong in the second period as they added four unanswered goals to complete the first of what they hope will be a league and cup double.

The next final is on Thursday as Gt Yarmouth Town Sunday take on Windmill in the Division One League Cup in a match sponsored by Peter Self.

The game is once more at Emerald Park with a 7.30pm kick-off and admission is 3 adults and 1.50 for OAPs/Juniors.

There is a request from the county to attend a meeting being held at the Russell Allinson Lounge, at Carrow Road on April 20, 7.30pm. This gives the members the chance to have a voice in the way in which the county is run.

Admittance is only by production of the notice and attendance slip already sent to the club secretaries. Any club secretary intending to attend and who would like transport should contact the league secretary.

The league would like to hear from any new clubs who may be interested in joining the league for the 2011/12 season. Please contact secretary Peter Futter on 07988 308086 or e-mail him on difnpif@aol.com
