Acle United 2, Wroxham Reserves 2

WROXHAM Reserves got out of jail in the sixth minute of stoppage time with an equaliser - their second of the game - they hardly deserved against an Acle team playing some good football and who should have wrapped up all three points well before the end.

Home manager Tony Ward will be disappointed because he knows his side should have deservedly taken all three points from a team that was loaded with class Ridgeon League regulars. But Acle were not overawed by their more illustrious opponents.

Smith, in the Yachtsmen's goal, was the busiest as Acle set out their intentions early in the game.

With any luck Acle would have had an early lead with Ben Morgan and Nathan Thompson causing panic in an experienced defence who struggled early on.

Nicholls combined well with Holdsworth on the Acle left but the home player who caught the eye most was the impressive Ian Morgan.

After 15 minutes Acles got the lead they so richly deserved when a corner caused the big Wroxham defenders to panic and in a crowded penalty area Ian Morgan, laying on the ground, hooked the ball past Smith to put Acle ahead.

Striker Ben Morgan then left Wines for dead with a clever flick and run before crossing, the ball agonisingly eluding his team-mates in the penalty area.

The second half saw Wroxham equalise when a centre/shot from their right wing finished up in the far corner, giving stand-in Acle keeper Danny Carter no chance.

The goal of the game brought rapturous applause from the supporters.

After 55 minutes Ben Morgan released Holdsworth down Acle's right for the winger to round Wines and pick out Nathan Thompson in the penalty area. He eluded Self and Miller to hammer a volley past Smith and put Acle ahead for the second time.

In the sixth minute of added on time the visitors were awarded a contentious free-kick which was curled home to bring Wroxham level.

Acle United thanked Terry Reeves and Janette Taylor for taking up the position of trainer and physiotherapist following the club's call for assistance in these departments. Both are welcomed to Bridewell Lane.
