Gorleston picked up their first away win in Step 4 football after they beat New Salamis 3-1 last weekend.

The Greens' Jamie North hit the first shot of the game after ten minutes which went over then Connor Ingram tried his luck from wide but the ball went a foot over the angle of post and bar.

Both Dominic Docherty and Sweeney had shots blocked before the hosts had their first effort at goal in the 29th minute but the ball was always rising over Jake Jessup's crossbar.

Gorleston deservedly took the lead in the final minute of the half.

Jessup's goal kick was flicked on to Gilfedder who threaded a pass into the path of Sweeney in behind the defence and he calmly slotted the ball past the onrushing keeper.

The New Salamis equalised eight minutes into the second half when Mitch McKay skied an attempt to clear a cross.

The situation looked to be under control as the ball looped into the air towards Jessup but he couldn't hold it and it dropped to the feet of Taufee Skandari who made no mistake from close in.

The home side sensed blood and pushed again with Jessup redeeming himself two minutes later, fisting away an long range drive.

The Greens weathered the storm and, midway through the half, Gorleston regained the lead.

Docherty drove forward with the ball and found Ingram on the edge of the area. Ingram's pull back was left by Docherty for Connor Deeks to pick up, work onto his left foot and drill in a shot from 25 yards that found the corner of the goal.

Ten minutes later Gorleston thought they'd given themselves some breathing space. Sweeney and Ingram judged the flight of a Jessup punt better than the defenders.

Ingram must have then touched the ball onto Sweeney who buried it but the offside flag went up to rule the goal out.

Two minutes after that Gorleston did more or less make the game safe.

Another through ball sent Kai Fletcher in behind the New Salamis' defence.

He kept his composure as the keeper came out and slotted the ball past him into the net for his first Gorleston goal.

On Saturday, the Greens take on Felixstowe and Walton Utd in a 3pm kick off.
