Gt Wakering Rovers 2 Gorleston 4

Gorleston climbed out of the bottom two for the first time in seven weeks as their third successive win saw them leapfrog their opponents.

Darren Cockrill made two changes to the team that had beaten Acle with George Keys replacing Sam Knock and Ross Gilfedder starting in place of Kai Fletcher.

Connor Ingram, Robbie Sweeney and Jamie North had all gone close before The Greens opened the scoring in the 20th minute.

North's cross found Gilfedder, whose volley was parried by the keeper to Ingram who couldn't miss from close in.

Five minutes later it was 0-2 as Ingram's effort was blocked by the keeper to Gilfedder on the corner of the penalty area, who curled home.

Docherty went close with a diving header before the hosts pulled a goal back out of nowhere through Jay Nash.

But Gorleston regained their two-goal lead before the break.

North's corner was met by the head of George Keys who directed it down into the bottom corner.

The game became a little feisty after the interval as Gorleston had two shouts for a penalty and the home side had an effort cleared off the line.

Christy Finch came on for his first league appearance since being injured in October and his 78th minute shot from just inside the box was palmed over.

Connor Ingram had two half chances to put the game to bed before Finch made the game safe four minutes from time when converting from just inside the six yard box.

Finch then had an effort ruled out by an offside flag, before the game boiled over with a minute to go as Docherty was shown a yellow card while the home side's Billy Johnson was sent off.

Four minutes into stoppage time, the hosts pulled a goal back through Adetayo Adedoja but it was too little too late for them and a very important three points for the Greens.

On Saturday, Gorleston are at home (3pm kick off) in the Isthmian League North to Brentwood Town, who are in mid table and beat The Greens 3-0 in September.
