THE English Bowls Federation Finals were held at Skegness last week with Norfolk having two national champions, both coming from the Great Yarmouth area.
In the senior two wood singles competition, Marion Himpleman from Acle Bowls Club, who had previously won this title in 2007, beat M Robson from Durham 21-15 in the final, having beaten L Fletcher (Nottinghamshire) in the semi final 21-10 and C Clark (Humberside) 21-15 in the quarter finals.
A new competition was launched this year, an open under-25 pairs and this was won by Halvergate's David and Ashley Smith.
In a very close final the boys beat C Parnell and S Honeyman (Cleveland) 22-18 having earlier beaten T and E Morten (Northants) 21-18 in the semi-finals and R Barr and B Cole (North Cambs) 24-3 in the quarter finals.
Norfolk also had two losing finalists in Wayne Burrage from Horsford in the Men's Champion of Champions and his mother Hazell also lost in the Ladies' Champion of Champions final.
