The Men's A team were At home to North Walsham, a game most likely decide who won the county championship. Result 70-77 (1-6) - this result must now give North Walsham the title and the Acle team need to concentrate to be runners-up.

Mark Elliott, Daniel Noble, Captain George Tubby and Lewis Moore, after scoring a five on the eighth end went 14-3 up. They scored another five on the 14th, another five on the 16th and went on to win 32-9.

Patrick Willimott's rink went 10-0 up at five ends and 17-3 at 13 but they never scored another shot and lost 17-19. Robin Norman's rink were 2-13 down after 10 ends, 6-19 after 15 and lost 13-23. Tim Stone's rink were 2-16 at 10 ends 4-24 at 15 and lost 8-26.

The Men's B team away to Lakeside, result 71-96 (1-6).

Mick Harvey, Brian Kirby, John Harris and Barney Wymer were 5-10 down at 10 ends but by 15 had come back to 11-12 and in a close game finished 15 each. David Cole's rink were 8-1 up at five ends and 16-8 at 15. but they dropped a six on the 16th and a five on the 19th to lose 19-22.

Eric George's rink were four each at six ends but also dropped a six on the ninth and a five on the 10th and by 15 ends were 11-19 down, going on to lose 17-26. Bimbo Meek's rink dropped a five on the first end but scored a six on the ninth to be 10-13 down. On the 14th they dropped a four, then a seven on the 15th and lost 20-33.

Great Yarmouth IBC

THE Great Yarmouth ladies Red County League team played their last match in the Thurne Division last Monday against Gallow A, and it proved to be a good finish to the season.

The teams drew with 50 shots each, splitting the eight points on offer for the Yarmouth Reds to hold onto their runners-up position in the league.

B Wright, S Allen and J Warnes were two shots down by the fifth end 3-5, but by the 10th had taken the lead 8-6. The opposition fought back and scored a further eight shots over all the remaining ends. Rink score 8-14.

A Lines, N Pyzer and D Edwards by fifth end led 7-3. The visitors took four shots to the Red trio's five, so at 10 ends the scores were 12-7. The Reds added just one more shot to the North Walsham ladies three over the final ends. Rink score 13-10.

C King, L Westgate and P Ellis were ahead on firth end 11-10. Walsham, having mastered the green, scored on all the remaining ends. Rink score 11-18.

B Payne, B Phillips and J Howlett conceded just one shot by the fifth end 8-1. Walsham skip V Groom cut out many shots held by the Red team so that by 10th end scores read 10-8. The Red trio struck back and accrued shots on all the remaining ends. Rink score 18-8.

The Great Yarmouth Blue team attained third position in the Yare Division.

Browston Hall

The final games in the ladies County League brought home wins for both teams.

The A team beat Lakeside Swans 6�-1� (60-53). Joan Stringfellow, Diane Purnell and June Petts were 16-3 up at the seventh, dropped 10 shots over the next two ends but pulled away to win 22-15. Mona Ward, Mary Barrett and Gill Bird were 11-6 up at the seventh and won 15-12.

June Butcher, Diane Burwood and Pat Drinkall drew 9-9. Shirley Aldis, Ilene Hadden and Wyn Rumbold were 10-1 up at the fourth but their opponents came back over the next 10 ends to win 14-17.

The B team played Acle B in an exciting game that went down to the last bowl of the game.

Liz Myhill, Doreen Younger and Ella Cooke, 9-13 down going into their final end, managed three shots which, although they lost 12-13, put the team score 48-47 (5�-2�).

Janet Barber, Maggie Spurway and Sheila Shaw were 5-5 at the fourth, and five shots on the sixth and 11th ends helped them win 19-11. Dorothy Bennett, Pat Smith, and Pearl Jermy drew 8-8 and the Jill Boggis triple lost 9-15.

The men's C team also recorded a home win, against Roundwood B, taking five points in their 89-74 success.

Team captain Ken Saward with 14-year-old Matthew Munro, C Edwards and A Hunter -all coincidentally left handers - had a convincing 26-16 win. M Marshall, K Briggs, I Buck and S Hopwood had a close game over the opening ends, but seven shots on the 16th put them well in front and stayed there to win 25-11. C Posner 20-27 and M King: 18-20.
