Playing Boston in the semi-final of the national Yetton Plate Melanie Haylett’s rink at home went 11–5 up at 10 ends and 15–8 at 15.

Playing the 16th and the game is getting away from you, it’s time to play those shots that may make a big difference. Melanie goes to take out a bowl for five shots and gets it, however the jack moves sideways and goes straight to two opposing bowls, they finish winning 24–10.

Next door Marion Himpleman’s’ rink are 0–8 down at five ends and 7–19 at 15, with the Boston girls all playing very well it was just damage limitation as they lost 10–24.

At Boston Geraldine Reeve’s rink are 3–17 down at 10 ends, 6–21 at 15 and finished 8–31. Sue Batchelor’s rink were 6–14 at 10 ends, 8–20 at 15 fought hard and came back to finish 18–25. Result 60–90.

This was a disappointing result but credit must go to the Boston Ladies who all played well and were a good sporting team and wish them well in the final.

In the Norfolk County Top Ten League Acle Men needed five points from their final two games to take the title.

In the singles at Pinewood Brian Kirby was 11-2 up then 11–9 but went on to win 21–13. In the triples at Pinewood Alan Casburn, Ron Taylor and John Harris were 5–10 down but then scored at will and won 27–13.

In the fours, Dennis Edwards, John Lettice, Ken Copeman and Eric George dominated going on to win 25–8. They lost the pairs but three wins gave them six points and the title.
