Acle close gap

Acle, in third place in the Norfolk Alliance Premier Division, closed the gap on Vauxhall Mallards to 11 points with a 10-wicket win at home to Cromer with Haydn Murray taking five for 10.

Leaders Downham took a massive step towards securing their third successive championship as they thrashed Mallards by nine wickets. That put Downham 35 points clear with six matches to play.

In Division Four, mid-table Acle A (150 for eight) had a winning draw at Sprowston A (122 for eight).

Leaders of Division Five, Halvergate bowled out Norwich & Coltishall Wanderers A for 85, and claimed the win with 88 for four.

In the Norfolk League, the Winterton v Great Yarmouth and Caister v Rollesby matches were victims of the rain, as

was Belton's Division Two match at Norwich Union.

In Division Four, Martham made only 62 against Ashmanhaugh A's 100 but Winterton A scored 173 at Hales A, who were bowled out for 110. Great Yarmouth A's game with Felthorpe was rained off.

Halvergate A, at Watton in Division Five, bowled out their hosts for 110 and won with 112 for three.

Division Six side Rollesby A (181 for seven) beat Loddon A (101 for nine but Hemsby were rained off at Brisley.

Blundeston remain top of Division Seven, where all fixtures were beaten by the weather, and in Division Eight Acle B and Martham A were rain victims.

In the Mid Norfolk League, Rollesby (65) lost to Sheringham (69 for nought) in RJ Bidewell Division Three, and Kevin Grimmer Division Four leaders Caister got 21 points from a walkover against Drayton who failed to raise a side.
