ACLE United made the long trip to Brandon and after a confident performance came away point-less.

The effort and skill displayed by the side deserved more reward but this was not to be as the hosts gave an inspired display and gained the three points they needed to ensure they would keep their place in the Premier Division for next season.

Acle, with Steele Crosbie and James Foreman all outstanding, deserved a slice of the rewards.

Star performer for Acle was striker James Curtis forced into playing in goal due to the unforeseen withdrawal of Carter (the regular incumbent) and covered himself in glory with some excellent saves.

His confident handling and enthusiasm rubbed

off on his team-mates such that the visitors

were able to take the game to their hosts, and

with better luck in the last third of the pitch would have got what was deserved.

Bland Girling and Carver all looked assured and confident on the ball and the result did not merit that which was earned.

The management team will be relieved to finish the season after the early promise shown meant so much was expected of the side this season.

But as injuries took their toll and players were ruled out until next season the side struggled to maintain any kind of momentum or consistency, only that of throwing away games and points.

It is hoped next season a more dedicated squad will turn the fortunes around and success will return.

Brandon's goals came from a penalty which saw the impressive James Foreman dismissed (harshly) midway through the second period and a

“hit-and-hope” effort which was virtually the last kick of the game.

It was disappointing to see only two supporters following Acle when the following has been so much more throughout the season.
