At home to Woodlands Acle Ladies A picked up a good win.

Marie Barker, Andrea Morton and Geraldine Reeve went 8-2 at five ends and two fours put them in complete control as they won 22-6.

Lynne Cannell, Gwyn Xuereb and Mel Haylett went from 3-4 down to 11-4 up and finished 13-7 and Margaret Arnold, Edna Land with Marie Morton scored 11 shots in four ends and won 18-8.

Jenny Ramsbottom, Brenda Cole and Jenny Kirby won 21-8 to complete a good 74-29 result for all eight points.

Shotford B were welcomed by the Ladies C team and a good game followed. Hazel Jarvis, Linda Brown and June Thomas scored a four on end three and never looked back to win 23-3 while Mollie Hayton, Wendy Woolaston and Pauline Lewis won the final four ends for a 16-6 victory.

Jenny Woolaston’s block dropped a five on the fifth end but bounced back from 7-15 down to lose 12-15. Val Giles block were 6-2 up but only won one more end and lost 7-11. Result: 58-35 and 6-2 points.

With a number of call-offs the Men’s C team played a strong Bowling Club team at Acle. John Lettice’s rink were 9-7 up at 10 ends, a six on the 14th made it 15-14 but dropping a six on the 16th put them 16-20 behind, It was 21-21 playing the final end but Acle lost 21-22. Gordon Ives’ rink were 13 each at 18 but once more a final end went against them, losing 15-17. Alan Jones’ rink only scored on eight ends and lost 15-25 and Colin Starkings rink only won eight ends and finished 12-26. Result: 63-90 and 0-7 points.

Playing Diss in the Egham Trophy turned out to be a close encounter. At home Amy Barker, Liilian Barber, Simon Elliot and George Tubby went from 6-3 up to 6-10 down then 9-13 down at 17 before a five gave them the edge to go on and win 19-13. Brenda Cole, Geraldine Reeve, Ian Wones and Matthew Sparrow and Jamie Howlett lost 17-24 to a Roger Barnbrook quartet. Away Andrea and Marie Morton, Graham Punchard with Jason Roope went 12-4 up at 10 ends, 16-6 at 15 and won 24-16. Sheila Stacey, Jenny Kirby, Daniel Noble were 7-6 up at 10, 12-11 at 15 and finished 17-15. Result: 77-68 and into the next round.

Acle’s Kacey Cook, who is only 15-years-old, has been called up for an Indoor Under-25 England Ladies pre-trial at Ely in December.
