Acle Tennis Club is hosting its first open day on Saturday, May 26 from 10-3.

All family members are welcome at the event. The club will be providing activities throughout the day which include free coaching for all ages with new head coach Andrew McNeil.

Visitors will have a chance to test their serve against the speed gun and even play some friendly doubles with the members.

There will be a BBQ all day. It is an opportunity to find out what Acle Tennis Club has to offer. The joining fee will be waived for people joining on the day.

New head coach Andrew has been teaching tennis for 13 years and has been a head coach for seven of those years.

Andrew has worked in America at one of the largest clubs in the country and also in Australia helping set up mini tennis. Andrew is setting up a new junior and adult coaching programme at the club with lots of fun social events and tournaments throughout the year. Over two days on April 22 and May 6, the Acle Mini-Orange team beat every team in the AEGON team tennis league 2!

Acle mini orange put forward the following players:

Day one: 1 William Steinberg, 2 Max Littlewood, 3 Ben Gray, 4 Ethan Calvert Day two: 1 William Steinberg, 2 Max Littlewood, 3 Ethan Calvert, 4 Lewis Gosling.

The orange team beat Wymondham 9-1, Easton College D 8-2, Lime Tree 8-2 and EA Tennis 7-3.

The event took place at Easton College tennis centre. Everybody enjoyed the tournament and were very proud to win a gold medal.

Their coach Ann Nicholls said the win was very deserved, as they had all worked very hard.
