They found the venue much, much colder than they are used to and the green very pushy. Never coming to terms with the conditions, they lost 17-47.

It is, however, a great credit to all the players who did so well to go that far in the competition. They have won friends wherever they have gone, as have their supporters.

The Ladies B team went to Wymondham Dell.

Anita Nelson, Dawn Horne and Pam Anthony were close at three each after five ends, but by 10 ends were 11-5 up and went on to win 15-6.

Pam Hollis, Edna Land and Ros Myhill were also three each at five ends and by 10 ends were 10-6 up. They went on to score a five on the 11th and a five on the final end to win 20-11.

Jill Saunders, Pam Symes and Rose Yaxley were five each at six ends and 10-9 at 10 ends, and dominated the rest of the game to win 17-12.

Anne Drury's block were 0-11 down after six ends then came back only to be pipped at the post losing 13-14. Another fine result 65-33 and 7-1 points.

On Saturday, the Ladies' B team were at home to Shotford and Pam Symes, Pat Pegram and Margaret Shields scored a six on the fourth end to go 8-1 up, scored a five on the 11th and romped home 20-5.

Anita Nelson, Rose Yaxley and Ros Myhill were four each at seven ends, scored a five on the ninth and went on to win 13-8. Jill Saunders, Edna Land and Jenny Kirby were 6-3 at six ends, 8-5 at 10 and playing the final end were 8-10 down but scored a five to win 13-10.

Jean Ryan, Margaret Rowsell and Anne Drury were four each at six ends. 9-5 at 10 and went on to win 15-8. Result 61-31 and all eight points.

With two games left to play in the County League they have 99 points.

The Ladies' A team went off to Sheringham to play Pinewood.

Shirley Lettice, Molly Auld and Jean Cossey scored a five on the fifth end to go 11-2 up. The game evened out from here as they won 17-9.

Marian Marshall, Betty Brown and Melanie Haylett were 2-5 down at five ends, 7-9 with three ends to play, won all three ends to finish 11-9.

Margaret Arnold, Elaine Cole and Sue Batchelor were four each at seven ends, seven each at 10, 7-9 down playing the final end when a super Sue bowl made it three shots to win 10-9.

Geraldine Reeve's block were six each at five ends and eight each at nine but disaster struck in the last four ends and they lost 9-22. Result 47-49 and 3-5 points.

The Men's A team played at Bowling Club on Friday evening and enjoyed another win.

Jamie Howlett, Roy Himpleman, Robin Norman and Lewis Moore scored a four on the fifth end followed by a six to go 13-5 up. By 10 ends it was 14-11, they won the next six ends which included a seven on the 15th and were 32-11 up, finishing 37-15.

David Smith, John Marshall, Simon Elliott and Tim Stone went 10-2 up after seven ends, scored a hotshot eight on the eighth and by 10 ends were 20-4 up. It's difficult to explain why they only won two more ends, but they did win 24-17.

Tony Dunton's rink were 4-9 down at 10 ends, 7-13 at 15 and lost 15-19. George Tubby's rink were 7-8 at 10 ends then 7-17 at 16 and lost 11-24. Result 87-75 and 5-2 points.

The Men's C team, at home to table-topping Brecks, were aware of the quality of the opposition and their record.

Roy Roofe, Ray Genery, Bert West and Brian Grint were determined to make a close game of it.

At 11-4 up at 10 ends and 14-10 at 15, things were going well, then they dropped a four and a three to go 14-17 down. At 17 each playing the final end, they scored a two to win 19-17.

This was the first game in two years Roger Barnbrook's rink had lost in the County League.

Pat Beales' rink scored a four on the ninth end to go 11-5 up but were level at 15 each at 15 ends. Up 21-18 playing the final end the tide turned when they dropped a five and lost 21-23.

Mick Askham's rink found themselves 4-16 down on 10 ends fought back well but ran out of ends and lost 16-23.

Ashley Smith's rink were five each at six ends, 9-16 at 13, dropped a six on the 14th and had to go chasing shots and lost 13-31. Result 69-94 and 1-6 points.
