Acle United 3, Norwich St Johns 0

Acle kept the pressure on teams at the top of the league with a comprehensive performance against hi-flying St Johns.

Their twin spearhead of Tuttle and Carr where blunted by the excellent performance of Hodds, Nobbs and the Foreman brothers protecting Anis in Acle’s goal, who proved a capable deputy for the injured Scott Foreman.

Acle’s midfield dynamo skipper Luke Goreham together with Robbie Oldham and Warren Nicholls snuffed out the threat of Bussens and Matthews in the middle of the park and got forward in support of front men Ricci Butler, Thompson and Maddison.

Thompson scored two excellent opportunist efforts and Maddison weighed in with another that keeps him at the top of United’s scoring list, a huge success story.

Hempnall 1, Acle United 2

On Monday Acle visited old enemies Hempnall and recorded a well-earned victory, which sets the side in a good spirit for the Mummery Cup final at Trafford Park, Wroxham on Monday, May 2 (kick-off 10.30am).
