IN the League Cup, on Mill Lane, Albion met Catfield in a group match with both teams in with a very good chance of the semi-finals. Albion worked hard for their win.

Catfield took a lead after only 90 seconds when an Andrew Moore shot from the edge of the box found the corner of the net.

Minutes later Calver was put through to make it two but Shaun Turner diverted the ball round a post.

Albion believed they could grab something as they battled for everything. They were awarded an indirect free-kick inside the area and Peter Oldham made no mistake in smashing home from 10 yards.

Just after half-time Catfield introduced the three Thompsons in Paul, Adam and Waylon and this gave the Cats some extra bite. Pillar shot just over as Catfield looked as if they could just nick it in a very even game.

However, with two minutes left a mix-up between defender and goalkeeper left Ricki-Lee Collins the simple task of scoring into the unguarded net to give Albion victory.

It all but makes sure of Albion's progress but they will need a point against Peelers to be sure, while Catfield must beat Reedham in the last game to qualify. Otherwise the holders will face an early exit.

Reedham and International were 2-2 after 85 minutes when their game was abandoned. The league committee will make a decision on the result based on the referee's match report.

MK United wrapped up qualification from group one with a 5-1 win over Hemsby Reserves. The win also finalised top spot and a home semi-final on March 27 on Gorleston Rec.

Lacon Arms and Shrublands battled to a 3-3 draw. The point each means Shrublands occupy the second spot, having played all their games, by two points while Lacon Arms must beat Tramways in their last game to earn the second semi-final spot.

Division One saw a real six-pointer as bottom side Peelers played second-bottom Tramways at Lynn Grove. The final score of 4-4 shows how much both sides wanted the points, and both sides face each other again this week on Gorleston Rec in a quick rematch.

Division Two now looks a two-horse race as Bohemians remained seven points clear of second-placed Norfolk and Chance.

Bohemians fought hard to a 1-0 win over a much rejuvenated Caister United A while Norfolk and Chance remain a further seven points clear of third place following a convincing 5-0 win at Gorleston Wanderers.

Prostar Windows and MK United Reserves fought out a 0-0 draw while South Yarmouth made it two wins in two as they defeated Martham A 4-2.

Feathers warmed up for this week's Wiltshire Cup quarter-final against first division Albion with a very good 3-0 win over Carpathians.

This week sees two Wiltshire Cup quarter-finals, the last two second round matches plus the last Burgess Cup quarter-final all to be played to a finish on the day.
