ATROCIOUS weather could not stop Albion (GY) progressing to the fourth round of the Norfolk Primary Cup at the second attempt.

Second-half goals from James Hogbin and Ricci-Lee Collins ensured their safe passage against determined opponents, Albion's reward is a trip to South Yarmouth, the team they finish the 2008 programme against tomorrow.

There was a significant comeback in the big game in the first division. Arches took the lead inside 10 minutes against reigning champions Catfield and on the half-hour mark doubled their advantage, but Catfield got an important goal back before the break through Paul Thompson.

Second-half goals from Chad Pillar and Karl Barnard secured three important points for the Cats going into the Christmas break.

Free-scoring Reedham followed up their nine goals the previous week with seven against Gunton with Ross Charlton netting four with one each from Danny Brown, Scott Charlton and Wesley Noble-Parker.

Of the four teams at the top on 21 points, Albion were on cup duty and Hemsby Reserves and MK United Reserves lasted only 20 minutes before abandonments, leaving Shrublands the chance to go top on their own. With the pitch at Halvergate declared unplayable the game was switched to the Common, a decision Shrublands may rue after losing 6-3 to South Yarmouth. Matthew Wallis scored twice backed by goals from Nathan Copping, Luke Sweeney, Peter Lavan and an own goal.

It was a good day for the teams in mid-table as Great Yarmouth Peelers won with a solitary goal from Mark Carrier against Paperclip while Norfolk and Chance recorded their third win of the season as James Ntjortis, Khan Powell and Lee Knell scored in a 3-1 win at home to Martham A. Prostar Windows also recorded their third win, 4-1 against Great Yarmouth United, with a

hat-trick from Johnson and one by Harris.
