At the Tuesday night Godric 10 Jan Smith and Stephen Brown represented Great Yarmouth CC in a large field of 32 riders.

With a tough tough headwind to contend with Smith gave a solid performance and secured herself a personal best of 27.14, placing her second out of the lady riders.

Brown, riding fixed gear, completed in 25.23. an excellent ride and his best ride of the year. The event was won by Dave Chesterman in 21.35.

The Thursday night GYCC Time Trial saw 13 riders participate. Simon Smith made his time trial debut, completing in an impressive time of 28.13 (21.26mph). Mark Womack, who was making his first appearance for GYCC and his first ride after a long lay off, completed in 27.39 (21.7mph).

Andy Tyler experienced chain issues but still managed to complete in a very respectable time of 24.54 (24.1mph). Jonny Hawes was the fastest GYCC rider of the evening, finishing in 24.23 (24.6mph) and earning himself third place overall. The event was won by Lucas He (VCB) in 23.25.

Saturday saw Jan Smith and Jenny Anderson compete in the Tour of Cambridge Chrono, a 16.8 mile time trial on closed roads. Smith improved on her time last year by four minutes eight seconds, completing in 49.30. Anderson completed the course in 46.35, coming second in her age group, and in doing so, qualified for the World Time Trial Championships in France.

On Sunday, Andy Tyler travelled to South Wales to take part in Sportzmad’s 25 mile Time Trial. Weather conditions were far from favourable with strong winds and heavy rain. He also experienced chain issues again but completed the course in 53.31, beating the 25-mile GYCC club record which he had set only the week before. This was an excellent ride considering all the factors against him.

Also on Sunday was the Tour of Cambridge Gran Fondo. Five riders from GYCC took part with 8,000 other riders on a closed road loop. They all had a good ride on what turned out to be a fairly flat but windy course. They completed the 79 miles in just over five hours and crossed the line together.

Tom Moore took part in the Beccles Triathlon. It consisted of 480m swim, 20.3km bike and 6.7km run. He completed the swim in 13.01, the bike leg in 35.35 and the run in 40.20, completing in a total time of 1:33.18 and finishing 79rd out of 143, a very pleasing result.
