ORMESBY'S match angling ace Stephen Rouse carried off top honours in the Royal National Lifeboat Institute fundraiser at Cobble Acre fishery last week.

The retired water industry engineer and member of the Martham Angling Club was awarded the Jackson and Starling crystal glass trophy and a cash prize for his match-winning 46lb 12oz of carp, writes Roy Webster.

The event, organised by former England international and Great Yarmouth team man Jim Randell and his wife Barbara, raised a total of 1,100 for the RNLI.

It emphasised again that competitive anglers are a most caring section of rod and line sport.

Barbara Randell said: “Stephen Rouse is to be congratulated for beating a high-class field, but the real success of the day was the

sum we raised for the good cause, and I thank all who contributed towards it.”
