Lewis Moore of Acle Indoor Bowls Club has been selected for England U25 team in the International Series being held on January 9 and 10.

Acle Ladies A played away at Bowling Club, a game that was always going to be difficult, but if you want to win the Ladies' Championship, a game you must win.

Lillian Barber, Gwyn Xuereb and Jean Cossey started with a four on the first end but were level at 4-4 after three ends. From this point good bowling and sensible tactics won the day as they went on to win 17-7.

Betty Brown, Maureen Wright and captain Barbara Meeks looked comfortable as they went into an 8-2 lead after seven ends but by 10 ends it was 8-7. A captain's innings was required and Barbara shone through, and despite dropping a four on the final end grabbed the points with a 12-11 victory.

Jill Saunders, Ros Myhill and Marie Barker were 3-3 at four ends, 8-8 at 10 and 11-11 at 13 and won the final end to finish 12-12.

Geraldine Reeve's block found the going all downhill and after scoring a five on the sixth end led 10-2. Then it was uphill and they lost 10-16.

Result 51-46 and 6½-1½ pts. A good team performance and valuable away points.

Acle Men's B away to Diss were aware points there would be hard to come by.

Johnstone Mackie, Eric George, Ken Copeman and Bimbo Meeks picked up a five on the fourth end but by 10 ends were 8-13 down.

After 16 ends it was 12-21 but two threes and a five on the 20th put them one shot up, but they finished drawing 23-23.

David Cole's rink were 6-8 at 10 ends dropped a five on the 14th and never recovered, losing 10-25.

Ivan Borrett's rink were 7-7 at nine ends 11-11 at 15 and 17-17 playing the final end which went against them 17-18.

Les Smith's rink, 5-13 down at 10, 14-16 at 18, lost 15-20.

Result 65-86 and ½-6½ pts

Keith Owen, Jim Cole, Ray Smith and Mick Askham 6-6 at six ends 16-8 at 11 and 20-12 at 15, in a dramatic final four ends finished 21-21. Ashley Smith's rink were 5-5 at seven ends 12-12 at 14, 15-15 at 19 and just lost out 15-17.

Brian Grint's rink dropped a six on the eighth end to go 4-13 down, went 9-18 at 16, came back to 17-18 with two ends to play but dropped a four on the 20th and finished losing 18-22.
