On Sunday, Great Yarmouth and District Athletic Club travelled to Norwich for their final Anglian League fixture of the season.

They met City of Norwich, Peterborough, Cambridge, West Norfolk and Diss. A top-eight position in the league in both the men's and women's different age groups meant a chance to compete in the final cup competition at Bury St Edmunds in September.

The U13 girls have had a great season and were almost guaranteed a place in the cup, being in second place in the league (of 17 clubs) at the start of the fixture. They would have liked to take the league title as well, but they were particularly hard hit with athletes away on holiday and had lost half the team.

They put up a great performance against the top club Peterborough and finished only 10 points behind them, finishing in second place which gives them a chance to win the cup.

Emily Anderson, Bridget Clarke, Rhianan Clark, Chloe Furzer, and Amy Dowsett between them racked up a huge number of pbs and top-three placings.

The U15 boys, seventh in the league, were also in for a cup final position and turned out in force.

They had their best result of the season and came within four points of beating Norwich for the top place.

However their second place should see them in the final. The team: Mark Phillipson, Andrew Warnes, Tom Burgess, Domonic Oliver, Kyle Ella, Keelan Pywell, Jay Turner, Chris Spinks and Josh Clarke.

Again they put out some outstanding performances and with a few alterations are capable of getting in the first three in the cup final.

The surprise team of the day were the U15 girls. In about 12th position in the league, they took the second spot behind Norwich to give themselves an outside chance of making the final. Again another great effort from Louisa Marshall, Lauren Peach, Kelly Pywell, Tayla Burton, Catherine Lee and Nikita Barnes.

The inter ladies/senior woman had their best performance of the season with a fourth place. Katy Barber, Polly Davies, Amber Burton, Tamsin Desborough, Donna Burton and Emma Barwick the team.

The U17 men again had another best performance with a third place for Richard Taylor, Shane Atherton, Daniel Gomes, Miguel Reyez and Ryan Krause.

The senior/junior men again excelled and had a fourth place with Chris Peck, Andrew McNamara, Ben Johnson, Mark Turner and Kevin Pywell competing.

The U13 boys have struggled this year through lack of numbers and James Smith had to carry the flag for Great Yarmouth but did collect 11 points.

The U11s, competing in the guest events, put in some fine performances.
