Athletes rise to new challenge
'Try new challenges' was the motto of the Great Yarmouth and District Athletic Club road runners this season, so on Sunday 14 members went to the Mutford Relays for the first time, an excellent event organised by Waveney Valley AC.
'Try new challenges' was the motto of the Great Yarmouth and District Athletic Club road runners this season, so on Sunday 14 members went to the Mutford Relays for the first time, an excellent event organised by Waveney Valley AC.
The relay consists of five runners each racing around a 5k undulating circuit. A total of 32 teams competed in this annual event, and with a start time of mid-day it became a very hot afternoon.
Dave Drewitt, who due to a last-minute casualty, had to run two legs.

Team A: 2-04:06 - Frankie Turner 22:32, Dave Drewitt 24:15, Sue Fraser 26:07, Adele Postle 26:39, John England 24:33.
Team B: 2-34:09 - Diane Clark 32:38, Sue Ryles 29:53, Denise Goodwin 34:33, Stef Herod 30:17, Penny Studley 26:58.
