Great Yarmouth & District Athletic Club's Pat Brightman, competed with 26,500 other runners in the BUPA Manchester 10k. The winner of the race was the great Haile Gebrselassie in a time of 27:39, who took time out for a photo with Pat before the race (see back page).

The race is through the streets of the City, out to the famous Old Trafford ground and back to the Deansgate - the street on which Usain Bolt later in the day broke the 150m record. Pat improved on her last 10k and finished in 1-18:07.

On Wednesday, the last of the Great Yarmouth Road Runners Promenade five-mile series took place and two runners from GYDAC took part, the easterly winds affecting their times.

Dave Goodwin finished in 37:46, while Andrew McNamara recorded 41:39.

The Norfolk racing calendar will be very busy during the next few months. The next race will be the Alex Moore Memorial Relay on Sunday.
