OVALRACING: One of the year's biggest meetings took place at the Yarmouth Stadium last Sunday with a team of banger drivers from the King's Lynn Raceway taking on the local racers for the first time in a few years, writes Graham Utting.

The first heat saw a very heavy fencing for Ipswich racer Michael Mills by Great Yarmouth's Steven Sipka, who was racing for the Lynn team. From the restart the visitors were outnumbered and Yarmouth's Danny Coleman took the win followed by another regular Yarmouth winner, Kieran Cannell.

The other half of the cars were in the next heat with the visitors taking the first two places, Sean Haller and Sam Reynolds doing all they could to earn their side some points bringing the totals much closer. But after that the visiting team failed to score any further points. Coleman took another fine race win, ensuring he was the top points scorer of the night.

The 1300cc stock cars contested their British championship, but with Dennis Sutton being docked two places for jumping the start the race was awarded to Aaron Morris with Lee Pearce second and Sutton third for an all-southern top three.

Racing this Sunday, 6.30pm, sees the V8 stock car English championship together with racing from the ministox, and bangers feature in an all-contact racing special.

Thursday at 8pm has the superstox back in action with the rookie rods and more banger racing.
