Belton aim for county cup glory
Great Yarmouth & District Football League
Belton have by far their biggest game in their history this week as they seek a place in the Norfolk Primary Cup final.
They travel to play Great Massingham believing they can do it after seeing off Diss in the last round. The league wishes them all the best of luck as the aim to become the first side since the Old Feathers in 2004 to reach the final.
Caister Community Centre FC became the first team to book a place in the semi-finals of the Burgess Division Two Cup after a comfortable 5-0 win over Prostar Windows.
The result means Caister CC are confirmed as group one winners and will face the eventual runners-up of group two in the semi-finals on March 19.
The other game in group one saw Carpathians record a 2-0 win over Arches.
This result did a massive favour for Belton FC. The last game in the group now pits Prostar Windows against Arches where the home side must win by three clear goals to progress. Anything less sees Belton through.

In group two, MK United Reserves’ 2-1 win over Wellington means they still have an outside chance of progressing. If South Yarmouth win their last game then they progress and MK go out.
Caister Youth meanwhile are all but through. Only a heavy defeat and a South Yarmouth win can see them go out.
In the HA Holmes League Cup, GY International are the first team through to the semi-finals after a hard-fought 3-2 win over Norfolk n Chance.
GY International are winners of group two and will have a home semi-final on March 12.
In Division One, Catfield took another giant stride towards a sixth straight league title with a 2-1 win over MK United.
Two Chad Pillar penalties were enough for the champions who had a man sent off.
Albion appear to be the closest challengers for the championship after a comprehensive 11-0 win over Caister United A.
The visitors have been praised by many for their never-say-die attitude this season and have also been awarded club of the month by the league for their outstanding work off the field over the last month in terms of referee feedback, administration and sporting points.
Albion, meanwhile, are six points off the leaders with a came in hand.
Bohemians sit third after a 2-1 win at Yarmouth United. The home side’s defeat mean they are now above the relegation zone on goal difference, just above Feathers who won 6-1 at Peelers in the first match to ever be held on the 3G pitch at Lynn Grove.
In Division Two the title race is ever closer after Belton’s fine 4-2 win at cup specialists Caister Youth. Belton are now two points behind with a game in hand and both them and Caister CC have yet to play each other twice.
South Yarmouth are up to third after a 6-0 win over Martham A. The result means they are now only three points behind the leaders.
This week sees the final semi-final slots of the league cups confirmed.
