Great Yarmouth & District Football League

AFTER the initial shock of finding out at a very late stage that they would have to replay their Norfolk Primary Cup semi-final, things went from bad to worse for Belton when they were defeated 2-1 at Great Massingham.

Belton obviously will feel some injustice. But the club though can still lift three trophies and must look ahead, although the experience of the last couple weeks will leave a bad taste in their mouths for some considerable time.

In domestic cup action, Albion have returned to the Wiltshire Cup final after a 2-0 win over an excellent Yarmouth United at Mill Lane.

In a game that could have gone either way, two goals from the visitors ensured last season’s losing finalists return for another shot at the prestigious cup.

They will play the winners of tomorrow’s semi-final between MK United and Catfield.

In the Percy Nockolds Trophy, Caister CC booked a semi-final spot with a 3-1 at South Yarmouth.

They set up a repeat of the Burgess Cup final as they tackle Belton on Wednesday, April 20.

Caister Youth also made it through as they defeated MK United Reserves by a solitary goal to earn a semi-final with Yarmouth Peelers.

The Division One title appears to be heading back to Catfield after a comprehensive 10-1 win at Yarmouth Peelers. Seven more points will lift the title.

The race for second took another twist as MK United moved second after a 10-1 win over a Feathers side on the back of some good results of late.

Congratulations go to Caister United A after a 0-0 draw with Bohemians.

Despite Bohemians’ dominance, Caister produced a solid display to earn a first point of the season.

GY International recorded a 2-1 win at home to Norfolk n Chance to give themselves fifth place.

In Division Two, Arches recorded a fine 5-4 win at home to Carpathians in a great boost for the club while Wellington picked up three more points in a 6-1 win at luckless Martham A.

Monday night sees the Burgess Cup final at the Wellesley as Belton aim to bounce back as they take on Division Two leaders Caister CC at the Wellesley with a 7.30pm kick-off.
