Belton suffered a seven-wicket defeat in a Mid Norfolk Sunday League Burgess Shield Division Two clash at Bradfield. Making first use of the well-prepared track, Belton were soon in trouble as opener George Savoury departed lbw from the first delivery.
Ashling was bowled by McCarthy by one that did not appear to bounce.
Cameron Nichols’ 20 well-placed runs got the innings back on track, but he lost too many partners doing it. It was left to Gavin Moar with 39 not out to add some respectability to the total of 128. Baines’ 5-50 was the pick of the home bowlers’ figures.
Belton needed an early wicket to make a fight of it and they got two. Phillips was run out by a short mile from an excellent throw in the deep by Cameron Nichols and Scannel fell lbw to Chanchalani.
After that little went right. George Savoury eventually bowled Kumber for 45 whilst Johnson went on to complete his 50. George Savoury’s 1-8 was the pick of the Belton attack.
