Ian Haylett, originally from Yarmouth but now living in Essex, was in Yarmouth for Christmas with family when his brother took him and his son pike fishing for the very first time on December 30.
The result was this 26lb fish Ian caught at Martham after their first choice of venue was frozen solid.
The fish took a dead-bait and was virtually the last gasp attempt as they had already decided to pack up and go home. It was the only fish they caught, but what a great fish it was.
Ian said: “I have only caught a very small pike before, and even that was a complete mistake as I was fishing for roach at the time. So this trip was my first ever attempt at pike fishing and certainly won't be my last!”
