Rollesby Bowls Club played their club pairs tournament on Sunday for the prestigious Churchill Cup. Due to the number of competitors the tournament was held, for the first time, as a round-robin event.
Rollesby Bowls Club played their club pairs tournament on Sunday for the prestigious Churchill Cup. Due to the number of competitors the tournament was held, for the first time, as a round-robin event.
Excellent bowling saw dark horses Ron Clark and Tony Wilkin win all of their group matches to meet similar outsiders Fred Walker and Dennis Gammon, who had won two and drawn one of their group matches, in the final.
All the players remained to watch a tense contest which was won 8-3 with some excellent bowling in the last few ends by Fred Walker and Dennis Gammon pictured on the left receiving the trophy from club president Sheila Allen. On the right are runners-up Tony Wilkin and Ron Clark.
