The DP Leisure Summer Pool League finals and presentations were held at the Residence Club on Monday night.

The evening started with the finals of the Mixed Doubles D. Thraxton and S Burgess (Arches) started well enough to take the lead but T Bullent and B Nelson (Merlins) came back and won a really tense match 3-1.

In the Ladies' Doubles, the event looked evenly matched, but when the it was level at 1-1, S Maisey and L Pinches (Merlins) stormed ahead to beat T Horne and D Hasley (Lacon Arms) 3-1.

When the Men's Doubles final started everyone was wondering if the Merlins pair T Ripkey and R Ashton could win to make a clean sweep of all the doubles cups for the Merlins Club.

But after a slow tense start S England and S Beare (Golfers Arms) picked up the momentum and in the end outplayed their opponents to win 4-0.

The Landlords' Cup was a very friendly match between A Smith (Flints) and E Howells (Prince Regent). The result could have been different if Andy had not clipped the yellow ball on the way to potting the black in the fourth frame, which would have made the score 2-2. Instead he lost the match 3-1.

In the Landladies' Final A Smith (Albion) went in to a 2-0 lead only to see R Howells (Prince Regent) take the next frame. She should have won the next too, rattling the final colour to leave Ali a shot on the black to win a very sporting match 3-1.

The Ladies' Singles Final saw S Buxton (Lion) back to her very best, playing some very good pool taking every chance that came her way to beat L Smallwood (Lacon Arms) 3-0.

The Men's Singles Final had to produce a new champion as neither player had been in the final before. K Paler (Prince Regent) won the first frame, which was the signal for S Palmer (Merlins) to step up his game, and he played very well to win the match 4-1, with included two clearances, Keith was unlucky to go in off the black in the third frame.

Pat from league sponsors DP Leisure presented the league and competitions trophies.
