Big wins for Acle bowlers

Betty Gibson, Shirley Genery and Ros Myhill were close at six each at seven ends, then scored a six and went on to dominate and win 20-9. Edna Land, Dawn Horne and Pam Anthony completely dominated from the start, 11-1 up after five ends, 16-3 up at 10, and finished 22-6.

Pam Symes, Pat Pegram and Anne Drury were 6-5 at five ends, 12-6 at 10 and won 13-8. Jean Ryan, Julia Crosby and Amy Brooks were five each at seven ends, 9-6 at 10 and won 14-6. Result 69-29 and all eight points.

In the Yetton Trophy Acle Ladies played the Dell.

Away, Dell Joy Pearson, Jean Cossey, Molly Auld and Geraldine Reeve went 14-8 up at 10 ends, 21-12 at 15 and finished 30-12. This was an exceptional win, mainly due to the brilliance of Jean Cossey. Melanie Haylett's rink were six each at eight ends 11 each at 15 and finished 14-18.

At home Margaret Arnold, Fay Moll, Gwyn Xeureb and Marion Himpleman went into a 16-4 lead at 10 ends, 19-13 at 15 and finished 24-21. Shirley Lettice, Lillian Barber, Pat Dickinson and Sue Batchelor were 12-6 at 10 ends, 15-9 at 15 and finished 18-13. Result 86-64.

Acle Ladies' B team at home to Browston B were looking to continue their good start to the season.

Pam Symes, Margaret Shields and Anne Drury were in top gear and after scoring a five on the sixth end were 16-1 up.

By 10 ends were 23-2 and finished 26-8. Edna Land, Pat Pegram and Jenny Kirby all on top of their game went 8-3 up at six ends, 13-5 at 10 finished with a flourish and won 21-5.

Jean Ryan, Amy Brooks and Pam Anthony dropped a five on the seventh end to go six each but went on to win 15-7. Janice Wilson, Shirley Genery and Ros Myhill dropped a six on the third end to go 3-8 down but went on to win 14-11. Result 76-31 and all eights eights points.

Acle played Dereham in the Denny and were expected to go through to the next round comfortably.

Tim Stone's rink were 3-6 down at five ends then 21-9 up at 15 and finished 32-12. Tony Dunton's rink were 10-2 up at five ends, 20-3 at 10 and they also finished 32-12. George Tubby's rink were 11-6 at 10 ends, 19-7 at 15 scored 10 shots in the final three ends to win 34-9. Patrick Willimott's rink were 7-9 down at 10 ends then 20-13 after and went on to win 26-15. Result: A massive 124-48.

Following Saturdays 76-shot win, Acle played the Marina Centre on Sunday in the Egham Trophy and were expecting another comfortable win.

At home Tony Dunton's rink started with a 13-0 lead after five ends, 23-10 after 15 and went on to amass a 35-10 win. Patrick Willimott's rink had a closer game four each at five ends, 17-10 at 15 and finished 19-16.

At the Marina Jamie Howlett' s rink went 9-1 up at five ends, 26-5 at 15 and finished 35-5. George Tubby's rink 5-2 up at five ends, 22-7 at 15 and they went on to win 33-13.

This resulted in a 78-shot win 122-44 and into the next round.
