Bryan Gunn escaped the curse that is the Manager of the Month award yesterday.

The award went to Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell - no doubt much to the relief of the City boss who can ill afford the misfortune that traditionally accompanies it.

The award went to Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell - no doubt much to the relief of the City boss who can ill afford the misfortune that traditionally accompanies it.

Gunn, Blackwell, Burnley's Owen Coyle and Wolves manager Mick McCarthy were nominated, but Sky TV pundit Chris Kamara selected Blackwell

“I'd take it in April,” was Gunn's only reaction at his weekly press conference yesterday. “I don't want it.

“I think Chris Kamara said some nice things on the telly the other day so a lot of people have been speaking about it but I'll take it in April, that would be the best time to get it.”

Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson is the League One award while Chesterfield's manager Lee Richardson won the League Two award.
