Gorleston triathlete Catherine Lee competed in her second national race, part of the British Super Series, held at Blenheim Palace in Oxford.

Catherine competed in the junior elite race, were she had to meet a certain criteria to compete. The race started at 8.55am and was staged in the grounds of Blenheim Palace.

This was a sprint distance, which included 750m in the lake, 20km on the bike section, finishing with a 5.8km run. In the swim, Catherine produced a personal best time of 10 minutes 55 seconds, with which she was delighted.

She did struggle on the bike section, but finished with a strong run.

Catherine finished 17th out of the elite juniors.

“I absolutely loved this race,” she said. “This was probably the hardest course on the bike and the run I’ve seen in a triathlon. I was ecstatic how the swim went, but was disappointed on the bike. Here I did lose a lot of time.”

Catherine has just finished her A-levels exams this week and should be extremely proud of her achievements.

“I really want to do this race again next year, it’s one of those once in a lifetime opportunity races.”

Catherine is already focusing on her next triathlon in a couple of weeks time.
