Great Yarmouth Town are at home tomorrow to FC Clacton (Wellesley, 3pm), and before the game will be presented with the Ridgeons League Team of the Month award for September.

The Reserves have no game, and the Under-18s are away to Harford Tornadoes next Thursday.

Clacton are always a strong challenge and recently beat mid-table Gorleston 7-0 and last week Debenham 3-0, writes Gerry Brown.

Some excellent results against the lower teams have been balanced by defeats by two of the current top four, Newmarket and Halstead.

The Seasiders have won six and lost three of their nine games, being one of three teams in the division yet to draw this season. Last season's corresponding fixture was won 3-2 by the Bloaters.

Yarmouth joint-manager Paul Tong took a philosophical view after seeing Yarmouth beaten for the first time in league matches this season, 4-2 at March.

“If anyone had offered at the beginning of the season that you would win eight games out of nine and draw the other, you would have taken it.

“Football is about being consistent. We have been consistent up to today but now we just have to get on and try to put together another nine or 10- game run.

“Kevin and I were not getting carried away with that early run of success and have always stated our aim is a top-six position come the end of the season.

“We are above that at the moment but strength in depth is a concern to us of course. We have got good players but they just didn't gel at March.”

The Reserves continued their good run of form on Saturday with a 5-1 success over Anglian Windows whose performance did not live up to their reputation.

Darren Patterson weighed in with two and there were also goals for Portuguese sensation Nino, Fernando Vide and Damon Wise. There could have been many more goals for the Bloaters.

On Tuesday, Patterson added two more to his tally, taking him to 12 for the season, when the Reserves drew 2-2 with Poringland Wanderers in the Junior Knockout Cup (Cyril Ballyn Trophy).

In very cold, wintry weather extra time failed to bring any more goals and the Bloaters won the penalty shoot-out 3-2.
