Great Yarmouth Town put some indifferent home form behind them to record their second 5-0 win of the season last week, over Cornard, and thus avoid the ignominy of failing to beat any of the bottom three sides.

This week, Yarmouth can try to improve their form away from Wellesley Road - they have recorded only four wins on their travels, writes Gery Brown.

The Bloaters travel to fourth from bottom Godmanchester Rovers who have only four home wins. Coach, Wellesley, 11am.

Great Yarmouth Town 5, Cornard United 0

THE master, Stewart Roach, notched his 10th senior hat-trick for the Bloaters while the apprentice, Nick Crawley, bagged a brace as a very young Cornard side were put to the sword on Saturday.

Roach has continued from where he left off when previously at the Wellesley before he started his tour of Suffolk in 2001 - scoring goals with free abandon. He is again the team's leading scorer after just 13 games in which he has found the net 14 times. His strike partner Crawley is only one behind in goals from 16 appearances.

Yarmouth welcomed back Paul Dyer and Steve Taylor and named untried youngster Damon Wise on the bench.

Although Cornard competed strongly in the first half, and put together some neat moves, the writing was on the wall after just 23 minutes when Roach slammed a short pass from Crawley into the roof of the net after a Yarmouth corner routine.

It's gratifying to see the Bloaters at last start to put away their chances for which the midfield of Adam Sullivan, Steve Taylor, Mark Thompson and Sam Watts must be praised.

The only surprise was that it was almost 40 minutes before the Bloaters scored again.

On the hour, Thompson, feeding on a pass from Roach in midfield, steered the ball across to the far post where Crawley hooked it back past Holland in the visitors' goal.

A lively bouncing ball and a stiff southerly wind made life difficult at times for both teams but Cornard failed to make anything of the few errors that the Yarmouth defence committed.

Roach and Thompson again combined to give a chance for

Watts but the youngster just missed making any contact as he steamed into the area.

Roach then hit a post as the rampant Bloaters took Cornard apart. But he had better luck after 78 minutes, sending a looping header back over Holland off a Watts long cross from

the right.

Three minutes later, Crawley scored his second, a simple touch after he and Roach had caused more confusion in the visitors' area.

Damon Wise, on after 70 minutes for the injured Johnathan Watt, battled well and won a corner from which fellow substitute Danny Bartram headed just over, but the goal feast was complete in the 88th minute when Roach slid home a cross from Taylor.

Chris Symes' Cornard side had fought gamely until the end, but Yarmouth were left celebrating

their second five-goal haul accompanied by a clean sheet in consecutive home games.
