The Bloaters play Swaffham at the Wellesley tomorrow (kick-off 3pm) looking for a league double, having won 2-1 at Shoemakers Lane earlier in the season.

They will want to keep their unbeaten home league record intact and get nearer to reclaiming the leadership of Ridgeons One.

Brantham are five points ahead having played a game more after their midweek 2-0 home win over Halstead.

To help is the return to availability of Jonny King and Gareth Palmer whilst Scott Woodcock and Martyn Magee are hopeful of shaking off injuries picked up in the game against Saffron Walden.

Saffron Walden Town 1, Great Yarmouth Town 1

THE spoils were shared in an entertaining encounter at

Caton's Lane with captain Stewart Roach bagging his 14th goal of the season.

The Bloaters welcomed back Adam Sewell, Marcus Saunders and Steve Best to the first-team squad after their unavailability at Cornard last month, while there was also a recall for Mark Thompson on the bench, but Gareth Palmer and Jonny King were unavailable.

Saffron Walden almost took the lead in the 27th minute through a corner but the ball smacked against the underside of the bar and was cleared.

It wasn't until the 38th minute that Yarmouth had their first real opportunity, with Fernando Vide firing an effort which drizzled just past a post.

Two minutes later the home side were celebrating as Graeme Turner was allowed to run through at goal and his cross-cum-shot was poached in by Brad Green.

By half-time Manager Paul Tong had made two changes, the first an enforced first half substitution through the injured Scott Woodcock being replaced by Luke Fell and at half-time Gavin Norman appeared in place of Fernando Vide.

Both players appeared to give Yarmouth an edge. Within a minute Gavin Norman had the Bloaters' best chance to up to that point with a header which was tipped over.

Yarmouth fashioned another decent chance in the 50th minute after a short corner but Marcus Saunder's effort was deflected for another corner.

Yarmouth's three highest goal scorers of the season linked up five minutes later with Jake Reed crossing for Gavin Norman who touched the ball on for Roach. He had a clear header at goal but found the roof of the net.

Roach did get his header right on the hour mark as Saffron Walden goalkeeper Ronnie Yates made an error. the ball fell to Luke Fell who crossed for Roach to head into the empty net.

The rest of the match was an end-to-end affair.

Manager Tong was positive on the team's character after the match: “Saffron Walden is always a tough place to go and in the first half we struggled to find passes and track runners. But with 10 games remaining, if we show the same application and commitment as our second-half showing then I'm sure we can achieve our goal come the end of the season.”
